When is a trap billable?

Modified on Mon, 12 May at 2:23 PM

With our Only-Pay-If-You-Use model, you only pay for the traps that are active. Here’s how it works:

  • A trap is billable if it sends at least one heartbeat (status update) within a calendar month.

  • If a trap sends a heartbeat, it is considered "active" and you will be billed for that trap for the month.

How to Avoid Charges

  • If a trap is not in use, simply remove the battery to stop it from sending heartbeats.

  • Without a heartbeat, the trap will not be billed.

Key Points:

  • 1 heartbeat = billable trap for the month

  • No heartbeat = no charge (remove the battery to stop heartbeats)

How to see active billable traps

  • Go to billing, in the left side panel, and select a time period.
  • You can then show billable traps/customers only
  • You can hide empty companies, which are companies with no traps
  • Beneath each month, you will see that the text is in bold (orange marker) and one in parentheses (blue marker)

The orange marker is the traps that have had one heartbeat, and will be billable, whereas the other number in parentheses are total amount of traps on the account.
